Beacon Engineer
João is a Beacon Engineer at RocketFin, working with the firm's London Delivery team on data and analytics workstreams across client engagements. He brings a data-science background combining statistical analysis, cleansing, modelling, visualisation and Python-based automation.
Before joining RocketFin, João was a Statistician at Malta's National Statistics Office, where he performed analysis on data from multiple administrative sources as part of the Signs of Life Project and built Python libraries to automate cleansing and aggregation. Earlier he was a Data Scientist Intern at CEiiA in Porto, building Python object-detection and image-classification algorithms using Sentinel-2 imagery for the ESA-linked Phi-Sat 2 Project.
João holds a Master of Science in Computational Statistics and Data Analysis from the University of Porto, and a BSc in Economics from Portucalense University. He reports into Albert Herd, Technical Director.
